Did Call Of Duty games have better map designs during the late 00’s-early 10’s?

As many people know the Call Of Duty series has been around since ‘03 back when the first-person shooter was becoming extremely popular among gamers in general. Even though, the first Call Of Duty game came out in 2003 the series really did not start to become popular on a mainstream level until around the late 00’s. In fact, some of the most memorable installments within the Call Of Duty series came out between ‘07- ‘12. While the gameplay & graphics within the Call Of Duty series constantly improved with each sequel; the map designs in games such as: Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 4 along with Black Ops II were quite memorable. There were impressive map designs like Highrise, Terminal, Raid, Hijacked and Crash that many critics believe holds up well about a decade or so later. This is not to take anything away from the most recent Call Of Duty installments from Black Ops III onwards because a majority of gamers are still emotionally invested into the series. But there are several people who will go on record and argue that Call Of Duty: Black Ops II from was the most successful game in the series. Call Of Duty: Black Ops II reached over 31 million in sales and managed to generate approximately $2.75 million in sales since its release in 2012.

There are some long time fans of the series would probably argue that Black Ops I & II from ‘10-‘12 was a peak period for the series; following the releases of Call Of Duty 4 & Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 from ‘07-‘09. Around 2013, despite the Call Of Duty series remaining popular throughout the 10’s decade; there were games like Call Of Duty: Ghosts & Black Ops III which were not as strong entry wise in relation to the titles from ‘07-‘12. Not was the some of the map designs from the older Call Of Duty games considered to be iconic but gameplay and storylines were also very compelling as well. Map designs for old stages like Hijack from Black Ops II is one that has recently been remade for Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. There are also other stages like Nuketown and Hazard from the older Black Ops games that fans of the series are quite fond of; that should definitely be remade for Black Ops: Cold War on the future.
