Metroid Prime (2002) vs Zelda: Twilight Princess (2006) which was better?

As far as top action-adventure games from the 00’s decade are concerned there are many exciting titles that instantly comes to mind. For the Nintendo GameCube which was released back in ’01 two of the biggest action-adventure titles for that console included Metroid Prime and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Metroid Prime was a game that exceeded the expectations of many people especially considering the fact that people had waited since ’93 for the game before it was released in November 2002. The original Metroid Prime game was praised by fans and critics alike for its visuals, sound effects along with Nintendo’s ability to successfully develop a 3D installment to the series which became popular in 2D. Since its release Metroid Prime was named “Game Of the Year” by multiple gaming publications such as GameSpy, GameSpot, Edge and EGM and had rivaled the likes of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City as far as popularity is concerned.

As popular as the Metroid series was back in the 00’s with the trilogy of games that we saw between ’02-’07 some would argue in favor of Zelda: Twilight Princess in being a better action-adventure game. Twilight Princess was a game that many people praised for various reasons such as its graphics and its controls especially the return of Z-targeting on the Wii (L-targeting on GameCube). Also, the artificial intelligence was more challenging in Twilight Princess which added to the game’s overall replay value. As far as overall sales are concerned Zelda: Twilight Princess sold close to 9 million altogether for GameCube and Wii combined and eventually received an HD remake on the Wii-U in early 2016. As far as which title was more superior between Metroid Prime and Zelda: Twilight Princess is debatable and really depends on what series you are more a fan of.

Will Nintendo’s online multiplayer gameplay for Super Mario Maker 2 effect its overall success?

As many people know Super Mario Maker 2 is set to be released for the Nintendo Switch this upcoming month in June 2019. The intended release date for Super Mario Maker 2 is June 28th and is considered to be the highly anticipated sequel to the original Mario Maker game which came out in September 2015. As far as recent news regarding Super Mario Maker 2 is concerned we have learned some additional details regarding the online multiplayer game mode. It has been revealed that players will not be able to play against friends in relation to the online multiplayer game mode. Instead, players will be randomly matched with other people which is interesting since it could possibly have either a positive or detrimental effect on the replay value of Super Mario Maker 2.

With all of the new features in Super Mario Maker 2 such the brand new story mode, items and staging materials for players to create their own levels; the online multiplayer gameplay is something that seems of minimal importance in relation to the game’s overall success. The fact that Super Mario Maker 2 has more offline in-game content than its predecessor almost assures that the game will be a huge success. In fact, it would not be surprising if Super Mario Maker 2 ended up selling more than its ’15 predecessor especially since the Nintendo Switch is a more popular game console than the Wii-U and arguably the Nintendo 3DS.

Did stiff competition hurt the success of Mass Effect: Andromeda?

As many people know the Mass Effect series had consisted of various Action RPG’s titles that were popular between the late 00’s-early 10’s. The last game the very last major game that we got to see in the Mass Effect series was Andromeda which came out back in March 2017 for PlayStation 4, PC along with the Xbox One. Since it release Mass Effect Andromeda was not praised to the same extent as the previous installments within the series by fans and critics. While many people adored the combat system that Mass Effect Andromeda had to offer it was criticized for technical issues in relation to its user interface. Also, some would argue that the Mass Effect series was starting to lose its luster after the second or third installment depending on who ask. While the Mass Effect trilogy was very interesting due to the ability for players to carry over progress within the trilogy the competition had started to become more intense within the Action-RPG genre of gaming.

Within the past couple of years we got to see the release of games such as Final Fantasy XV, Horizon Zero Dawn along with Monster Hunter: World which were among some of the best games we got to see for the PS4 between 2016-2018. By the time we got to the year 2017 it seemed like the Mass Effect series was starting to become old and there are some who believe that the series needed a hiatus. Despite, Andromeda being a solid Action-RPG title the Mass Effect trilogy from ’07-’12 were are still considered to be the best games within the entire series. As it currently stands its unlikely that we will see a another Mass Effect game anytime within the next couple of years unless Electronic Arts says otherwise.

Will there ever be a Dead Space 4?

As far as the survival horror genre is gaming is concerned the Dead Space series which originated back in 2008 has been very popular between the late 00’s-early 10’s. The last game within the Dead Space series that we got to see was released back in February 2013 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. Despite, being well received by fans and critics alike Dead Space 3 was never ported to next generation consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and did not sell as much as its predecessor Dead Space 2 from 2011. For years some have speculated that Electronic Arts have decided that the Dead Space series needed a hiatus. However, there has been no talk or announcements within the past six years about the development of a Dead Space 4. Besides Visceral Games the developer for all three Dead Space titles became defunct back in October 2017. This would raise the question on who would work on the development of Dead Space 4.

If the demand is high enough we can possibly get a Dead Space 4 through a kickstarter campaign online. However, there are many who feel that the Dead Space series has ran its course and should be left alone altogether. If Electronic Arts re-released HD versions of the Dead Space trilogy for current generation consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One all in one package that would definitely be an attraction amongst gamers who are fans of the survival-horror genre. As far as the possibility of seeing a Dead Space 4 in the future is concerned it’s something that seems unlikely at this time.

Dead Space 2 (2011) vs Dying Light (2015) which game was more successful ?

As far as big survival horror games are concerned in relation to the 10’s decade there is no question that Dead Space 2 and Dying Light were both considered to be big following their respective releases. As far as the survival-horror genre is concerned the Dead Space series in general has her very interesting since its inception in 2008. In fact, the entire Dead Space trilogy has generally been praised by fans and critics alike with the first installment arguably being the best. But from a sales standpoint Dead Space 2 was probably the most successful game out of the trilogy since it managed to reach up to 4 million units worldwide.  The gameplay for Dead Space 2 allows players to solve various puzzles while upgrading their weapons, armor and other accessories throughout the game. The zero-G environments in Dead Space 2 also added more depth to the game’s realism which blends well with the dark atmospheric tone and the name of the game itself. Dead Space 2 reportedly had a budget of at least $120 million with two years of development going into it before its initial release in January 2011.

While Dead Space 2 was a huge attraction within the survival horror genre back in 2011 many argue that Dying Light was just as popular following its release in 2015. While Dead Space 2 was a third person survival horror game Dying Light emphasized first person gameplay and had better visuals since it was released on stronger consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One opposed to PS3/Xbox 360. Along with having a robust melee combat system the day/night cycle for Dying Light was impressive especially since it had a significant effect on the level of difficulty that players had in dealing with zombies. Zombies were generally tougher to destroy at night than the day and forced players to often think on their feet while developing strategies on how to stay alive.

The fact that Dying Light had a co-op multiplayer mode that allowed up to four players was also very cool. However, might put the multiplayer game mode in Dead Space 2 over that of Dying Light especially since players had the could choose to be on a team of Necromorphs versus the Sprawl Security forces in Outbreak mode. As far sales are concerned Dying Light has managed to reach at least 5 million copies surpassing that of Dead Space 2. Since January 2015 Dying Light has been looking sweet on the Chrome Engine 6 and gamers are still waiting for Techland to produce Dying Light 2. While the gaming world has also been waiting to see a Dead Space 4 since 2013 we have heard no announcements from Electronic Arts since then about it being a possibility in the future. But in terms of which game was more successful between the two survival horror games some would probably put Dying Light over Dead Space 2.
