Should Capcom develop a MegaMan X9?

As many people know over the past three years or so the Mega Man series has somewhat been in the spotlight as of late. Back in the Summer 2018 Capcom released the Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 & 2 which included just about every game with the MMX series from ‘93-‘04. The Mega Man Legacy Collection series was met mainly with positive reviews from gamers and critics alike following its release back in 2018. We also got to see the release of MegaMan 11 back in September 2018 which also received mainly positive reviews as well due to the improvements in visuals and gameplay in comparison to its 2010 predecessor Mega Man 10. There are many people who believe that if Capcom is capable of creating a sequel to a game like Mega Man then surely at some point we will get one for MegaMan X8 which came out back in ‘04. As many long time fans of the Mega Man series are aware the MMX series began to lose its appeal somewhere during the start of the early 00’s; quite possibly following the release of Mega Man X5 in the year 2000. MegaMan X6-X8 are not installments that standout as our as much as the first three entries for the SNES or MMX4-MMX5 for the PS1.

As far as potential future release of MegaMan X9 is concerned it’s unlikely to happen in the future especially since Capcom has no plans to do so. In fact, the producer of Mega Man 11 Kazuhiro Tsuchiya had shot down the online rumors regarding the development of MegaMan X9 back in 2018. While there are many people who would love to see a MegaMan X9 game sometime in the 2020’s decade the fan support among the gaming community specifically those who are long time MM fans is not strong enough. If Capcom ever decided to develop a MegaMan X9 the idea of utilizing 2.5D gameplay and visuals similar to that of MegaMan 11 would be appealing. If Capcom really wanted to try something new and innovative comic book styled artwork & visuals similar to that of Comix Zone or Viewtiful Joe would look pretty cool for a potential MegaMan X9 game.

10’s Gaming- Child Of Light: (2014)

As far as 2D platform RPG’s are concerned one of the few titles that Ubisoft developed back in the mid 10’s that many people were impressed by was a game called Child Of Light. This title was released for just about every game system you could think of including the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii-U, PS3, PSVita along with Microsoft Windows. There were critics who were fans of various aspects of Child Of Light including the visuals and the ability to swap characters in the game. While the story for Child Of Light was pretty basic it had a female protagonist named Aurora who had a dark yet strange backstory prior to waking up in Lemuria following her death. One of the more interesting aspects of Child Of Light is that the setting for game takes place in the later part of the 19th century. Players take control of the princess named Aurora in the year 1895. Throughout the game players eventually come in contact with other playable characters who joins Aurora on her quest to defeat the main antagonist Umbraalso known as the “Queen Of The Night”. There were some shocking revelations within the story for Child Of Light such as Umbra being Norah’s mother and Aurora’s stepmother.

Players also discovered details regarding the connection between Aurora’s world and Lemuria and how Umbra stole the mirror which connected two after rescuing Lady Of The Forest from imprisonment. In her search to retrieve Lemuria’s light in order to utilize the mirror she is searching for Aurora eventually crosses paths with several playable characters with diverse backgrounds. Aurora aligns herself with Rubella, Finn, Norah, Robert, Genovefa and Tristis characters whose stories are all connected the main plot in some way. The frequent visions that Aurora had throughout Child Of Light definitely made the story itself more intriguing; opposed to your average 2D platform game with a basic plot with little to no story depth. While many people would live to see a direct sequel to the Child Of Light game from ‘14 Ubisoft creative director Patrick Plourde has confirmed that there will be none.

Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media good or bad?

One of the things that has captured the eyes of many people within the gaming world as of late involved the news regarding Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media. Based on what we know tech giant Microsoft will be purchasing ZeniMax Media for $7.5 billion; giving the company ownership of some of Bethesda’s most famous video games including the likes of the Elder Scrolls, Doom and the Fallout series. One of the reasons why Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media is such a big deal is because its probably the most expensive purchase in gaming history. Its common knowledge that Microsoft has been working more closely with one of its former competitors Sony in the midst of the ongoing gaming war with the likes of Google & Apple. Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media is definitely a strong positive for the company because that is more future revenue that the corporation will be earning; if the deal regarding the purchase closes during by the first half of 2021.

The interesting thing about Microsoft’s purchase is the fact that its comes about two months before the company releases its next generation console known as the Xbox Series X which is expected to be released on November 10th of 2020. Its quite possible that one of Microsoft’s motives behind the purchase is to prevent upcoming games within the Wolfenstein, Doom and Elder Scrolls series from appearing on game systems such as Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia or iOS devices. If you are and have been a huge Xbox gamer for over the past decade or so then Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda’s parent company is both big and exciting news. However, Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media could be a threat to the likes of Google especially since the Stadia mainly relies on the streaming of third party games. Microsoft has a lot going on right now with the latest release of their xCloud streaming service along with the Xbox Series X set to appear in retail in November 2020. Based on how things look right now next year onwards seem very promising for the tech giant that now owns Bethesda; which will be unfortunate for some of the company’s major competitors.

Would a Mario Kart 3D All-Stars game be a huge attraction?

As many people know the Super Mario 3D All-Stars game was released on September 18th of 2020. Prior to its release it was something that long time fans of the series have fantasied about for many years prior to its release. Mario 3D All-Stars included some of three of the best installments within the entire series including Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine along with Super Mario Galaxy. The idea of including bundle of some of the best Mario games from ‘96-‘01 was one that was well received by many people following Nintendo’s announcement about it. In fact, some people wonder whether or not Nintendo should do the same thing with few of the Mario Kart games. The idea of a Mario Kart 3D All-Stars is one that sounds very appealing considering how successful certain games within the series were. While Mario Kart 64 from 1996 was legendary Mario Kart: Double Dash from ‘03 was very unique;especially with the concept of being able to select two drivers for one kart. The Mario Kart Wii game from ‘08 ended up becoming one of the best selling video games of all-time reaching over 37 million copies in sales. If those three Mario Kart games were included in a bundle similar to that of Super Mario 3D All-Stars it would definitely be a huge attraction among Nintendo gamers past and present.

As it currently stands Mario Kart 8: Deluxe is still a big attraction on the Nintendo Switch and will most likely remain that way for the next few years or so. If Nintendo did something different with a game like Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo Switch that would possibly turn heads. If Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo 3DS was remastered in high definition for the Switch it could possibly perform well in terms of sales. A remastered version of Mario Kart 7 would probably more interesting than the Mario Kart Tour mobile game that Nintendo released in September 2019. A Mario Kart 3D All-Stars game would definitely be far more interesting than Mario Kart Tour because of nostalgia. But since Nintendo has no plans to make a Mario Kart 3D All-Stars game whatsoever its unlikely that it will ever happen.

Will we ever get a Super Mario Odyssey 2?

As many people know Super Mario Odyssey was released for the Nintendo Switch back in October 2017. Since then Super Mario Odyssey has ended up becoming one of the most successful video games on the Nintendo Switch. Since its release Super Mario Odyssey has reached over 18 million copies in sales and has become the sixth best selling video game on the Nintendo Switch. In fact, Super Mario Odyssey right now is the 10th best selling Mario game of all-time which is very impressive since the series has been around for about 35 years now. Seeing how successful Super Mario Odyssey has been since its initial release along with the strong critical reception the game has received; many people are anxious to know whether or not Nintendo plans on producing a direct sequel for Super Mario Odyssey. The gameplay involving Cappy while collecting Power Moons in various kingdoms and transversing throughout various levels both 2D & 3D made Super Mario Odyssey an memorable experience. The plot for Super Mario Odyssey included the same formula that you would normally see in Mario games with Bowser kidnapping Princess Peach but with new settings and a slight twist at the end of the game.

Super Mario Odyssey has managed to surpass the likes of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 64 in terms of sales since its release. It would be surprising if Nintendo did not have any plans to make a direct sequel to Super Mario Odyssey with similar gameplay along with a different that follows the events of this game. As it currently stands Super Mario Odyssey has been around for a few years now and is still a huge attraction in retail for the Nintendo Switch. Its hard to predict whether or not Nintendo will make a direct sequel for Super Mario Odyssey but there are many people who hope that it becomes a reality.

Aside from Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time some would argue that PoP: Warrior Within along with the PoP ‘08 game were among the best installments within the series depending on who you ask.

But there is no question that the Prince of Persia series reached it peak in popularity during the 00’s which is why we are getting are remake of arguably the the best in within the series PoP: Sands Of Time. Does Mega Man Legends deserve an HD Remake?

As many people know the MegaMan series is legendary and has been around since the NES era of gaming from the 80’s. While the more famous titles within the series includes MegaMan I-V along with the MMX series from ‘93-‘01 a lot of people seemingly forget about the Legends from ‘97. MegaMan Legend last was the first ever 3D installment within the entire series. Following its release Mega Man Legends generally received positive reviews from critics and gamers alike. However, it seems like MegaMan Legends from ‘97 is not remembered to the same extent as the other installments from the 90’s. While MegaMan Legends had appeared on multiple game systems back including Nintendo 64, Microsoft Windows and PlayStation Portable; it never received an official HD remake of any sort for game systems such as PS3, Xbox 360, etc. While the gameplay from Mega Man Legends deviated from the fast paced run n gun action seen in 2D MM installments the storytelling aspect was considered a strong point among many.

The idea of having a 3D action-adventure third person shooter MegaMan game was pretty unique especially since some people had doubts on whether or not Capcom could pull it off. While we recently got to see the release of the MegaMan Legacy Collections 1 & 2 back in ‘18 Mega Man Legends was absent and hardly anyone complained about it at all. The demand to see an HD Remake of MegaMan Legends is not strong enough among gamers for Capcom to make that a reality; that also goes for its successors MegaMan Legends 2 from 2000. The fact that MegaMan Legends 3 which was supposed to appear on the Nintendo 3DS in 2010 was cancelled tells you that there was very little interest within that series in general. While MegaMan Legends was pretty unique in its own right it still was not as memorable or fun as the 2D run n gun titles from the NES/SNES era from the 80’s & 90’s.
