Could Mario Kart: Double Dash have been successful in arcade centers?

When we think about big titles from the early 00’s that really shined on the Nintendo GameCube one of the many titles that instantly comes to mind is Mario Kart Double Dash which was released back in 2003. Since its release Mario Kart: Double Dash has managed to sell over 7 million copies worldwide making it the second best selling game ever for the Nintendo GameCube. Despite, how successful Mario Kart Double Dash was for GameCube there are some who question whether or not it could have been big in arcade centers worldwide during the early 00’s. After all, we got to see the releases Mario Kart GP 1 & 2 in arcade centers back in ’05 and ’07.

Also, a few years ago we got to see the release of Mario Kart Arcade GP DX back in 2013 which is still popular to this very day. While in theory Mario Kart: Double Dash could have been a huge success in arcade centers back in the day the truth is that it being a GameCube exclusive added to the title’s overall prestige back in the early 00’s. While an arcade release of Mario Kart: Double Dash could have been helpful it was no necessary seeing how popular the MK series had become during the early 00’s.

Would Zelda: Twilight Princess be a bigger attraction on the Switch than Skyward Sword?

As many people may already know Nintendo has recently announced the The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword would not be appearing on the Switch console anytime in the near future. Despite, how successful Skyward Sword was for the Nintendo Wii the game was not nearly as popular as Zelda: Twilight Princess which was originally released for the Wii & GameCube console in ’06 and has sold close to 9 million units worldwide since its release. As far as Zelda: Twilight Princess is concerned Nintendo has never officially ruled out the possibility of the game being featured on the Nintendo Switch anytime in the near future. But as it currently stands Twilight Princess might not be coming to the Switch console anytime soon either.

While there is no question that Zelda: Twilight Princess would be a bigger attraction on the Switch console than Skyward Sword everyone currently has their eyes on Breath of the Wild which came out back in March 2017. Since its release Zelda: Breath of the Wild has managed to sell close to 10 million units worldwide in relation to sales and becoming one of the best selling titles within series in general. While having Twilight Princess in the Switch console sounds cool there is a good chance that the game would be overshadowed by many other bestsellers on that console right now such as Super Mario Odessey, Splatoon 2 Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and others.

Will Streets of Rage 4 be as successful as SOR 2?

As maybe know a few months ago Streets of Rage 4 was announced for a 2019 release. Ever since, we saw the reveal trailer for Streets of Rage 4 back in August we have learned that the game will be developed by Lizardcube and Guard Crash Games and published by DotEmu. We also learned that the plot and the setting for Streets of Rage 4 will take place 10 years following the events of SOR III which was released for the Sega Genesis back in 1994. While Streets of Rage 3 was a solid beat em up game during the early 90’s it was not nearly as popular as SOR 2 which came out in 1992. In fact Streets of Rage 2 is often regarded as the most popular game in the Streets of Rage trilogy from the early 90’s.

Everything from the gameplay & graphics all the way down to the soundtrack produced by Yuzo Korshiro was perfect on SOR 2 and its hard to tell whether or not Streets of Rage 4 will achieve as much success as the legendary 16-bit beat em up title from ’92. Also, its no secret that the 2D side scrolling beat em up genre of gaming had declined in popularity back in the mid 90’s and now first and third person shooters are big attractions today on various game consoles. As far as details are concerned in relation to Streets of Rage 4 there is still a lot we have yet to learn such as whether or not Yuzo Korshiro will return to work on the soundtrack for this game. But from the looks of things right now Streets of Rage 4 is unlikely to be as popular as SOR 2 was in the early 90’s.

Since its release Mortal Kombat 9 had managed to set approximately 3 million copies and considered to be a fighting title that everyone has wanted to see on the PS4 and Xbox One for quite some time now.

While Mortal Kombat X was also a great game following its release in 2015 MK 9 was arguably more popular following its release back in 2011. If we do not hear or received a reveal trailer for Mortal Kombat XI anytime in 2019 than re-releasing MK 9 would be the next best thing that NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros Interactive can possibly do at this point.

As far as fighting titles for next year are concerned two of the most anticipated games for 2019 includes Jump Force and Soul Calibur 6. As many people know Persona 4 was released on the PlayStation 2 back in 2008. Since then Persona 4 has been regarded as one of the best entry with in the entire series dating back to 1996. While Persona 4 was eventually ported to the PS3 along with the PlayStation Vita in 2012 as “Persona 4 Golden”. Seeing how popular this RPG simulation game was and remains to be to this day the idea of bringing Persona 4 to the PS4 sounds awesome. However, its a known fact that Persona 5 has been a huge attraction in relation to RPG titles on the PS4 since 2016.

Its possible that Persona 4 would not only be overshadowed by Persona 5 but also by titles that are currently on the PS4 such as Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Fallout 76, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and others. Also, there are still many big titles coming up next year such as Kingdom Hearts III, Metro Exodus, Days Gone, Resident Evil 2: Remake and other that everyone has their minds set on. As cool as it would be to see Persona 4 on the PS4 its probably better if the game is left in the past unless Atlus has any plans on making it a reality.

Since its release Final Fantasy XV has managed to sell over 8.1 million units worldwide and is considered be one of the most popular Action-RPG’s of the 10’s decade.

While Final Fantasy XV would be nice to see on the Nintendo Switch its possible that the game would be overshadowed by the first party titles that are already available for that game system such as Super Mario Odessey, Zelda: Breath of the Wild and many others. Also, there are not too many titles on the Nintendo Switch that utilizes the Luminous game engine but if the Final can handle the lines of the Unreal Engine than running Final Fantasy XV In this console should be no problem whatsoever. The Batman Arkham Collection now available for the Xbox One!!!

As the year comes to a close we have recently received some great news regarding that of the Xbox One. For those who are huge Batman fans and have missed out on some of his most popular titles from ’09-’15 you will be happy to know that the Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment has released the Arkham Collection in the Xbox Store today. The cool thing about this release is the fact that Batman: Arkham Asylum & Arkham City have both been remastered to meet the standards of the Xbox One. Batman: Arkham Knight obviously will remain exactly the same way that it was following its release for the Xbox One in 2015.

While many people are absolutely excited about the Batman Arkham Collection being available for the Xbox One it should be noted that it will be available for $59.99. While some might argue that $59.99 is an unreasonable price for Batman Arkham Collection you have to remember how much mainstream attention each game attracted prior to their respective releases. Also, these three Batman games were all critically acclaimed and two of them are being remastered so $59.99 does actually sound like a reasonable price.
