Would a GTA game based on today’s era be too controversial?

As of right now there is so much talk about whether or not Grand Theft Auto V one of the best selling games of the 10’s decade will have a direct sequel in the future. The idea of releasing a GTA 6 game that satirizes the modern day Trump-era is one that does not seem like a good idea at all. In fact, there would be so much controversy to a point where it could possibly tarnish the image RockStar Games on a public level. With key issues in today’s society such as racism and sexism it would almost be impossible to make a GTA game based on today’s era without drawing any type of heat or backlash from American society. Seeing how the GTA series has attracted a diverse fan base since the early 2000’s consisting of millions of people a game based on today’s era could end up being a disaster if not handled correctly.

Also, some can argue that the Grand Theft Auto series basically glorifies criminal conduct which is something our current President and is administration is strongly against which leaves the possibility of a potential GTA 6 game up in the air. It will be interesting to see if RockStar plans on going forward with release Grand Theft Auto VI within the next few years. If RockStar decides not to release a GTA 6 anytime soon then the series may have to take a hiatus due to the current state of American society in general.

Red Dead Redemption II earns $725 million within three days

Red Dead Redemption II was without a doubt one most anticipated game of 2018. As far as how successful this game was going to be it would be safe to say that Red Dead Redemption II has surpassed the expectations of almost everyone. It has recently been reported by Take-Two Interactive and RockStar Games that Red Dead Redemption II has managed to earn at least $725 million within the first three days of its release and will most like hit one billion before the the end of 2018. As far as how many copies of Red Dead Redemption has been sold since its release back on October 26th is concern those figures are still unclear. However, gaming analysts are expecting Red Dead Redemption to sell somewhere between 15-20 million copies worldwide before the end of the year.

Seeing that holidays such as Black Friday and Christmas are right around the corner sales for Red Dead Redemption II will go through the roof and will most likely be one of the most desirable to have for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One along with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Of Red Dead Redemption earned $725 million revenue we can only imagine how much money the game will generate before the end of 2019.

Could the SNES have sold more than GameCube during the early 00’s?

As many people on the SNES is one of Nintendo’s most popular game systems ever. Since its release back in 1990 the SNES has managed to sell over 49 million units worldwide which was very impressive at the time. Most recently the SNES Classic has managed to reach over 5 million units in sales since its initial release back in late September 2017. Seeing how popular the SNES was and still today there are some who question whether or not the SNES could have been a success back in the early 00’s. After all, we saw how popular the Game Boy Advance was during back in the early 00’s and it was about the closest thing that we got to a portable 16-bit console during that time period.

On one hand the SNES could have been a success in the 00’s if Nintendo retained games such as Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Mega Man X, Final IV-VI and others along with having Pokémon games on the 16-bit console. The inclusion of Pokémon games for the Game Boy Advance was one of the main reasons why the portable 32-bit console was so popular back in the 00’s. Without the Pokémon series the Game Boy Advance may not have reached over 81 million units in sales. If the SNES was initially released in the early 00’s opposed to 1990 its possible that it could have still sold more than GameCube. But then again this was a time period where 3D gaming was starting to become more popular and retro gamers turned to the GBA for nostalgic purposes in relation to 2D gameplay that reminded them of the SNES console. During the 00’s the SNES would have had more competition to deal with opposed to the early 90’s so its very hard to say whether or not it could have surpassed the GameCube in sales during that time period.

Should Nintendo have released the Wii-U in 2013?

As many people know the Nintendo Wii-U was not considered to be the most popular game system that the company has ever made. In fact, the Wii-U is quite possible the most unpopular Nintendo based game system ever created especially since it sold far less than its ’06 predecessor known as the Wii. While the Nintendo Wii managed to sell over 101 million units worldwide the Wii-U failed to reach 10 million in sales and is considered to be a flop for multiple reasons including high pricing along with stiff competition. There are some who argue that if Nintendo had initially released the Wii console a year later that it could have possibly of been more successful.

But seeing that both the PlayStation 4 along with the Xbox One were released during the later part of 2013 its possible that the Wii-U could have ended far selling less than what it did due its first week of that had happened. Either way, the Wii-U suffered from stiff competition against the PS4 and the Xbox One which is why the sales for this console was very poor.

Sega Dreamcast (1998) vs Nintendo Wii-U (2012) which console had more success?

When it comes down game console that have fell below the expectations of many people both the Sega Dreamcast along with the Nintendo Wii-U comes to mind. It seems like both consoles ended up selling less than 10 million units worldwide and are both considered to be flops in comparison to their competitors. Back in the 90’s the landscape of the gaming had changed dramatically when Sony entered the console wars with the PS1 back in ’94. Not only did Nintendo lose their lead in the contests but Sega also struggled to compete with their long time rival along with Sony. It was the same year when Microsoft entered the console wars that Sega decided to discontinue the Sega Dreamcast and in the process dropping out of the console wars.

However, it seems like Nintendo is basically in a similar position that Sega was in during the 90’s console wars. Sony seems to have the most popular game console right now followed by Microsoft’s Xbox One. While its possible that the Switch can surpass the Xbox One in sales the Wii-U definitely did not. However, the Nintendo Wii-U did have more memorable games than the Sega Dreamcast. To this day we are still waiting for re-releases for games such as Super Mario 3D World, Zelda: Skyward Sword and Super Mario Maker which sold millions of copies. Aside from games like Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Shenmue and Craxy Taxi the Dreamcast console did not have games that were quite as popular as the Wii-U. Overall in terms of which game was more successful the Wii-U might have the slight advantage over the Sega Dreamcast even though both consoles were considered flops.

The Nintendo Switch officially surpasses GameCube in sales

Ever since the Nintendo Switch was released back in March 2017 the hybrid console has managed to become very popular in over the past year. In fact, just recently the Nintendo Switch has managed to surpass the GameCube console on relation to sales. Between late 2001-early 2007 the Nintendo GameCube has reportedly reached over 21 million in relation to console sales. It was just announced a few hours ago that the Switch console has reached over 22 million units in sales in less than two years. Not only has the Nintendo Switch sold more than GameCube but it also surpassed the Wii-U which sold roughly over 9 million units throughout its life cycle between late 2012-early 2017.

While the Nintendo Switch will most likely end up selling more than GameCube and the Wii-U combined its unlikely that the console will sell as much as the Nintendo Wii. Then again, its too early to tell whether or not the Nintendo Switch will sell as much as the Wii console since we are still less than two years into its life cycle. It will be interesting to see how much the Nintendo Switch sells before the end of 2019.

Will Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 surpass CoD: Modern Warfare 3 in sales?

As of right now Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is one of the hottest shooter games out right now for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One and it has been since its release back in October 12th. Also, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has managed to earn $500 million in revenue within the first week of its release. While the exact sales figures of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is still unclear there are some who wonder whether or not the game will sell more than CoD Modern Warfare 3 which was released for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 back in 2011. Unlike, Modern Warfare 3 we know that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 does not have a campaign mode which is something that has been criticized by a few people.

However, there are many who would argue that the online multiplayer “Battle Royale” Mode In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is so good to a point where it makes up for fact that the game does not have a campaign mode. Since its release Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has managed to sell over 6.5 million copies worldwide and managed to earn more than half a billion in sales. While Black Ops 4 is off to a good start by earning $500 million within its first week its questionable whether or not it will sell more than 6.5 million copies overall.
