Duelyst confirmed to have its online severs shut down soon!!!

As far as big news within the gaming is world is concerned many people are talking about the recent announcement regarding Duelyst shutting down its online serves within the near future. For those who do not know Duelyst was made by indie video game developer Counterplay Games and was initially released for various computers devices back in 2016. Duelyst was a pretty unique tactical role-playing gameplay because it was a collectible card title with elements of turn-based gameplay. While Duelyst had appeared on iOS following its initial release it did not last long and was a game that ended becoming more popular on Microsoft Windows overall. Since its initial release the game had received at least six different expansions packs with the likes of “Denizens of Shim “Zar”, “Rise Of The Bloodborn”, “Ancient Bonds”, “Unearthed Prophecy”, “Immortal Vanguard” and “Trial Of Mythron” between 2016-2018. Seeing how the online servers for Duelyst is expected to shut down in February 2020 its possible that “Trial Of Mythron” will be the last expansion pack that we see for the tactical RPG.

In fact, its a guarantee that the “Trial Of Mythron” expansion pack from late-2018 will the last since Duelyst has reportedly seen a rapidly declining number of people playing the game itself. Considering the fact that Duelyst is a few years old along with the fact that card based role playing games are not too popular in this day and age it’s not too surprising that its servers are shutting down soon. Despite, Duelyst receiving mainly positive reviews from critics and players it was a game that was most likely overshadowed by the likes of Overwatch and Fornite between 2016-2017. While some people may have no problem with seeing some type of sequel for Duelyst Bandi Namco Entertainment has made no announcements regarding that possibility.

Stardew Valley reaches 10 million in sales!!!

One of the few things that had been making headlines within the gaming world as of late is the success of Stardew Valley. For those who do not know Stardew Valley is a farm simulation game that has released for multiple game systems since February 2016. In some ways people see Stardew Valley as a worthy competitor to the legendary Harvest Moon series especially since it looks similar to some of the older 2D installments that appeared on consoles such as SNES and Game Boy Advance. While Stardew Valley was a title that made headlines without the gaming world following its initial release nearly four years ago it has exceeded the expectations of many in relation to success. We have just learned that Stardew Valley has exceeded over 10 million copies sold since its initial release for consoles such as: PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch along with mobile devices like Android & iOS. To some the success of Stardew Valley comes as no surprise especially coming the fact that the game itself feels like something that could possibly revitalize the farm-simulation genre of gaming.

While the original Harvest Moon game was considered to be very unique and innovative for Super Nintendo back in ’96 Stardew Valley felt like a more modern day version of that game which was something that was appealing. Fans of the 16-bit era of gaming along with those who cherish the farm-simulation genre of gaming believe that Concerned Ape’s game from 2016 was definitely one of the best indie titles of the 10’s decade. It will be interesting to see how popular Stardew Valley will remain throughout this year along with the first half of the 20’s decade since the game is only about four years old now.

Resident Evil 3: Remake a game that many people have high expectations for especially considering how successful Resident Evil 2: Remake was following its highly anticipated release for the PlayStation 4 & Xbox One back in January 2019. In fact, the remake of Resident Evil 2 reportedly surpassed the original version of the game in sales; PS1 version sold slightly less than five million overall in terms of sales. However, the original version of Resident Evil 2 still sold more than Resident Evil 3: Nemesis from 1999. While the breathtaking visuals from the intense Nemesis trailer is something that everyone is talking about there have been some question when’re not the Resident Evil 3: Remake will have more success than the original game.

As the original Resident Evil 3 game is concerned the game was mainly praised with minor drawbacks as it related to voice acting and lack of depth within the story compared to Resident Evil 2. Most likely, these are issues that Capcom will have taken care off by the time the Resident Evil 3: Remake is officially released in April 2020. The original version Resident Evil 3 had managed to sell slightly over 3.4 million copies since its release over 20 years ago in January 1999. While Capcom has taken the dark aesthetics of the original Resident Evil 3 game to the next level in this high definition remake; the atmosphere for this game looks and feels more menacing than it did on the PS1.

Retro Gaming 00’s- Kirby & the Amazing Mirror: (2004)

When we think about memorable games that appeared on Game Boy Advance back in the 00’s Kirby & the Amazing Mirror is one of the few titles that instantly comes to mind. Kirby & the Amazing Mirror was released back in ’04 and was both a platformer and metroidvania game. The game has a rather interesting plot that involved the Mirror World which was located in sky within a place known as Dream Land. Players learn that they must rescue Meta Knight following his loss to Dark Meta who sliced Kirby up into four different beings. Dark Meta had also sliced up the Mirror that Meta Knight was locked to eight different pieces. After the mirrors are scattered players had to search for them while controlling Kirby. Along with battling sub-bosses, venturing through different world and solving puzzles players can gather items to enhance their in-game performance. In addition, to robust gameplay players have three mini-games they can enjoy known as “Kirby’s Wave Ride, Speed Eaters and Creative Hack which all contributes to the overall replay value Kirby & the Amazing Mirror. The visuals for Kirby & the Amazing Mirror is stunning has a great look to it.

One of the reasons why Kirby & the Amazing Mirror was a pretty cool game because the plot found a healthy balance between between being both dark and kid-friendly. As good as this adventurous platformer was it was seemingly overshadowed on the Game Boy Advance especially with games like Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire and Super Mario Advance 4 being huge attractions on the handheld game system. A game like Kirby & the Amazing Mirror really could have stood out on the SNES back in the early to mid 90’s and is one that can be considered an underrated gem for Game Boy Advance.
