As many people know the Street Fighter EX series which initially started back in 1996 consisted of a trilogy of 3D fighting games within the series which were considered to be underrated. While the first Street Fighter EX Plus game had an arcade release in December ’96 before appearing on the PS1 during ’97 we got see a sequel known as EX 2 Plus 2 during ’98 which also received a positive reception from fans and critics alike. Following its arcade release in ’98 Street Fighter EX Plus 2 was eventually ported for the PS1 the following year in ’99 but was seeming overshadowed by titles such as Tekken 3 and Marvel vs Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes on that same console. While Marvel vs Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes also appeared in the Sega Dreamcast some argue that Street Fighter EX Plus 2 could have definitely stood out more the 128-bit game system back in 1999.
For reasons that many people are unaware of Street Fighter EX Plus 2 was never ported for the Sega Dreamcast which was a shame because Capcom was really making great fighting titles between the mid to late 90’s. But there is no question that Street Fighter EX Plus 2 would have looked far more superior visually on the Sega Dreamcast opposed to the PS1. Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha 2 could have definitely shined on the Sega Dreamcast in 1998 especially since games like Soul Calibur and King of Fighters ’98 did not appear on that console until ’99.
