Does Gran Turismo 4 deserve a remake?

As many people know Gran Turismo 4 is considered to be one of the greatest racing games of all-time. Since its release back in late ‘04 the Gran Turismo 4 has received nothing but positive reviews from gamers and critics alike. Gran Turismo 4 is one of the best selling video games within its series reaching over 11 million copies in sales worldwide. There were many people who thought that Gran Turismo 4 had amazing graphics by 2005 standards and it was one of the few games that represented the absolute best that PS2 had to offer. In fact, Gran Turismo 4 ended up becoming the third best selling PS2 game of all-time behind its predecessor Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. There were over 700 cars in Gran Turismo 4 with over 50 different race tracks. Also, along with a local gameplay which consisted of Arcade and Sports Mode; Gran Turismo 4 also had an Online mode which was pretty cool considering the fact that it was a PS2 game. While Gran Turismo 4 is commonly seen as one of the best installments within the series along with GT3: A-Spec there are fans of the set who have been clamoring about remake for the game within the past couple of years.

However, Polyphony Digital is not well know for remastering video games within the Gran Turismo series since they more focused on the future. As it currently stands we are still waiting for Gran Turismo 7 which is set to appear on the PS5 sometime in 2022. Also, even if Polyphony Digital and Sony Interactive Entertainment decided to remaster Gran Turismo 4; its unlikely to have the same level of success on the PS5 that the original version has on the PS2. While Gran Turismo 4 is a game that is worthy of a remake in theory there is no indication that Polyphony Digital or Sony Interactive Entertainment is ever going to make it happen.
