When we think about some of the most popular fighting games that was released back in 2015 the top two titles that instantly comes to mind are Mortal Kombat X and Tekken 7. Both games received a significant amount mainstream attention following their respective releases and received positive receptions from fans and critics alike. But in terms of which game was better is something that is debatable. If you are a fan of 3D fighting games than then Tekken 7 is most like your cup of tea especially if you are a long time fan of the series. If you have been a MK fan since Mortal Kombat 3 & 4 from the mid to late 90’s the story mode along the characters included in Mortal Kombat X such as Shinnok, Quan-Chi, Tanya and others was something worth checking out.
While both games looked impressive visually there is no doubt that Tekken 7 was much better since it utilized the Unreal Engine 4 will MK X used the Unreal Engine 3 despite both games being released within the same year. But as far as which title was more closer to reaching “Fighting Game of the Year” status many people would probably lean more towards Mortal Kombat X. The introduction of new characters in Mortal Kombat X along with the momentum the series had following the release of MK IX back in 2011 were arguably significant factors in relation to the overall success of the game itself.
