Was Mega Man X: Command Mission overlooked on the Nintendo GameCube?

As many people know there were several big games that appeared on the Nintendo GameCube back in the early 00’s such as Metroid Prime, Mario Kart: Double Dash, F-Zero GX and many more which are considered classics by many people to this day. However, despite how popular the Mega Man series has been since the late 80’s it seemed like Mega Man X: Command Mission was a game that did not get talked about as much following its release back in 2004. By the time Mega Man X5 appeared on the PS1 in November 2000 it seemed like the MMX series was starting to become old as the 2D platform genre of gaming was between the late 90’s-early 00’s.

However, Mega Man X: Command Mission was one of the first big RPG titles within the series in general. The fact that Mega Man X: Command Mission did not have more success than it did should have could partly be due to the fact that GameCube had fierce competition during the early 00’s with consoles such as the PlayStation 2 along with Xbox. Besides the early 00’s was considered to be the beginning in relation to the rise of the shooter genre with games such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Call of Duty, Halo, Mass Effect, Gears of War which became very popular throughout the decade. As cool as it was to have a Mega Man RPG for GameCube in ’04 it was a game that did not stand out as much as other titles within the series that came before it.
