Will Mario Kart 8: Deluxe sell more than Mario Kart Wii?

As many people are aware Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has managed to reach up to 10 million units worldwide in sales on the Nintendo Switch. The fact that Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has so much success in such a short period of time is something that many people are not surprised about. No doubt that Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has become one of the best selling games for the Nintendo Switch along with the likes of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odessey. In fact Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has surpassed the likes of Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart: Double Dash in terms of sales.

Despite, how popular Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has become over the past year there are some who question whether or not it will surpass Mario Kart Wii in terms of sales. Since its release back in 2006 Mario Kart Wii has reportedly sold over 37 million units worldwide and remains to be the best selling game in the entire series. If Mario Kart 8: Deluxe remains in retail for the next two or three years its possible that it might catch up with Mario Kart Wii seeing how much it sold worldwide in just over a year. In the meantime the world will be waiting for Nintendo to announce Mario Kart 9 for the Nintendo Switch in the future.
