If you were a fan of McRae: Dirt which was released in 2007 that most likely Race Dirver Gird is a popular racing title that comes to mind in the late 2000’s.  Race Driver Gird was developed by a British video game company known as Codemasters and was original released for the Sega-Europa-R arcade system around mid 2008 worldwide.    Race Driver Grid had incredible gameplay along with fantastic visual presentation that made the game itself appeal to casual gamers.  Race Driver Grid had featured so many in game activities including drifting, touge, open wheel, demolition derby and GT championship mode. One of the most exciting aspects about this game includes the player’s opportunity to establish themselves as a professional racer by winning competitions along with team building.  In this game players can do many things such as unlock challenges along with have the opportunity to buy teammates to help them out financially.    Before choosing their potential teammates players are given information about various things involving their background including rank, signing fee, and specialty.

One of the few things that some people will instantly notice about Race Driver Grid includes the fact that there are far less cars included in this game than some other racing titles such as the Gran Turismo series. Along with having multiple game modes and a pretty cool game engine Race Driver Grid also gives players to option to race in first or third person view which makes the driving experience much more exciting.   In the regions of America, Europe and Japan players will have so much fun playing this game along with the car selection featuring cars such as: the Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Charger SRR-7 Drift, Ford Mustang along with the Lamborghini Murcielago RGT which had a sale value of around $1,700,000.  Another great thing about Race Driver Gird was the fact that it was available for multiple game console opposed to just one.  When Race Driver Grid was released in 2008 it was available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC.  Since its release Race Driver Grid has sold at least 1.1 million units worldwide and has been viewed by many people to be a very great racing game.  Even though, games such as Gran Turismo and the Forza Motorsport series had were considered very popular there were also other racing games that were considered to be classics.  Race Driver Grid may not have been the most popular racing game when it was first released but its probably a game that many people held on to before switching over to the generation consoles such as the PS4 or the Xbox One.

  1. I liked Grid, it was a bit of a departure for the franchise but I feel it took it in the right direction.
