Why the Harvest Moon series is underrated

Its hard to believe that the Harvest Moon series has been around for over 25 years now especially considering the fact that it got started on the SNES console back in 1996. The Harvest Moon series is one that only got better in quality as time passed and is often overlooked in relation to gaming mainly because the farm simulation genre is not too popular in western countries like America. Harvest Moon and other farm simulation type games are ones that can prep children for the future as it relates to developing survival skills in relation to farming and property management. The Story of Seasons series is one that not only helps children and casual gamers learn more about things such as raising livestock and growing crops and caring for animals; but it also has gameplay elements that relates to life itself such as marriage. While there have been many great entries within the Story of Seasons trilogy the series arguably reached it peak during the 00’s decade with games like Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, Harvest Moon: Back to Nature and various other installments. As far as popularity it concerned the Harvest Moon series was not quite popular during the 2010’s as it was during the 2000’s decade mainly because the farm simulation genre was overshadowed by high profile RPG’s, shooters and action-adventure titles. However, the Story of Seasons games that have emerged within the past 25 years were all fun yet useful games that could help kids prepare for the future.
