Super Smash Bros. Melee is quite possibly one of the most famous fighting games that Nintendo has ever made despite being release on a game system that was considered to be a commercial failure. The GameCube console was one that was praised by many people following its initial release back in ’01 despite not being a commercial success like its successor the Nintendo Wii. Super Smash Bros. Melee managed to reach over 7 million copies in sales and was the sequel to the critical acclaimed Super Smash Bros title that appeared on the Nintendo 64 back in 1999. As a free for all arena battle game Super Smash Bros. Melee was addictive and had a roster of iconic Nintendo characters including Mario, Samus, Luigi, Link, Donkey Kong, Kirby and many others. The original super Super Smash Bros game from ’99 was an innovative concept by itself and Melee was basically a modified version of its prequel in terms of gameplay, graphics and overall appeal. If Super Smash Bros. Melee was released back in the late 00’s for the Wii console it could have possibly of sold more than the likes of Mario Kart Wii which many people now think is overrated. Super Smash Bros. Melee was not only one of the most iconic fighting games of the 2000’s decade but it has been played at countless video game tournaments around the world within the past two decades. Despite, Super Smash Bros. Brawl being more superior than its predecessor in terms of quality Melee was definitely the more popular of the two games from the 2000’s.
