Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec- 20 years later!!!

Its hard to believe that Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec was released 20 years ago on the PlayStation 2 console. When it comes so to simulation racing titles from the 2000’s Gran Turismo 3 was arguably the greatest title within its genre during that decade. Not only was Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec a major step forwards in terms of gameplay within its series; but it arguably played a significant role in putting the racing genre on the map. Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec help paved the way for titles such as Project Gotham Racing, Forza Motorsport, Midnight Club and many other big racing franchises from the 2000’s. The commercial success for Gran Turismo 3; A-Spec was unbelievable seeing how it managed to reach over 14 million copies in worldwide sales. Not only was Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec the best selling game within the GT series; but it also the number 2 best selling video game on the PS2 and arguably one of Polyphony Digital’s greatest creations ever. The Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec game from ‘01 may not seem like anything special to contemporary gamers since due to its obsolete visuals. It should also be noted that Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec came out before online multiplayer gameplay became common features in video games. However, Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec considered a simulation racing game that set bar for its competitors throughout a majority of the 00’s decade. While the very first Gran Turismo title from ‘97 was a classic Polyphony Digital managed to hit a home run with GT3 in relation to commercial success. The original Gran Turismo game sold over 10 million copies on the PS1 and was the best selling video game on that console. Despite, not having other entries in the GT series that has failed to surpass Gran Turismo 3 sales the series has gradually evolved over the past two decades. Gran Turismo is considered to be the most popular racing franchise in the world as it relates to video games.
