Does Deadpool deserve another game?

As many people know Deadpool is considered to a very popular character within the fictional Marvel universe and has been around since the early 90’s. Even though, Deadpool was initially depicted as a supervillain within Marvel Comics he began to become more popular as a anti-hero throughout the 10’s decade. Deadpool has been especially popular with young adults within the past decade for his goofy yet mentally unstable personality. Some might go on record and argue that in the early 10’a Deadpool was almost on the same level of popularity as Spider-Man was. Not only was Deadpool apart of the critically acclaimed Marvel vs Capcom 3 title from ‘11; but he also had his own video game for the PS3 & Xbox 360 in 2013. The Deadpool video game for the PS4 was developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision and was an action-adventure title that utilized the Unreal Engine 3. While the Deadpool game from ‘13 has a nice look and a decent storyline loaded with comedic humor; the game was generally criticized for its controls and repetitive gameplay. Even though, the Deadpool title from ‘13 was not necessary a “Game of the Year” candidate it was far from being a horrible video game depending on who you ask.

While Deadpool is still a huge name within the Marvel franchise some question on whether or not he deserves another game for the PlayStation 5 or the Xbox Series X. Many would argue that another Deadpool game for current generation consoles would be attractions considering how popular he still is. When comes down to movies the two Deadpool films from ‘16-‘18 were both very popular and drew a ton of box office revenue with each movie reaching over $780 million separately. If anything Deadpool is one most popular characters in the Marvel universe next to Spider-Man. However, the likelihood of another Deadpool sometime in the future is questionable since Activision apparently has no plans to make it happen. Its been at least eight years since the release of the Deadpool game from ‘13 and since then there has been no sequel. Even if we were to get another Deadpool video game it seems unlikely that High Noon Studios and Activision is capable of making a game that comes close to the Spider-Man title from 2018. If we do get another Deadpool game from Activision it does not have to be near flawless like the Spider-Man 2018 title; but it definitely would have to be a drastic improvement over the ‘13 entry for it to be an attraction on the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
