As many people know the Splatoon series has been around since 2015 when the very first game was released for the Wii-U. Since then the Splatoon series ended up becoming one of the most popular names to appear on Nintendo based consoles in general. The lastest game within the Splatoon series that we got to see was Splatoon 2 from ’17. While the original Splatoon game for the Wii-U was huge success Splatoon 2 the Nintendo Switch was even more popular. The Splatoon 2 game from ’27 managed to reach close to 12 million copies in sales; while currently being one of the top selling games for the Nintendo Switch. Ever since the very first Splatoon was released for the Wii-U back in 2017 the game ended up becoming one of the top sellers for that game console. Splatoon has reported sold over 4.9 million copies on the Wii-U and became the sixth best selling title on that console. There were many strong positives from both Splatoon games especially the latest installment including the art style along with single-player campaign mode and the multiplayer gameplay.
Some points of criticism for Splatoon 2 involved the mobile voice chat feature during gameplay which in some ways deterred from the multiplayer gaming experience. If Nintendo does decide to release a Splatoon 3 they will fix the voice chat issue as it relates to online multiplayer gameplay. But if Nintendo does decide to create a sequel to Splatoon 2 features such as improved graphics along a new campaign mode are a features to be expected opposed to something entirely new. The Splatoon series is still very popular among Switch gamers and with Splatoon 2 being the best selling entry within the series; the question is whether not Splatoon 3 will be able to surpass Splatoon 2 from a sales standpoint. Even though, Nintendo has made no announcements regarding the upcoming release of a Splatoon 3 game there are many people within the gaming world who are dying to see one. If Nintendo does decide to develop a Splatoon 3 hopefully we will see the game released sometime between 2021-2022.
