Retro Gaming 00’s- The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (2000)

As far as classic action-adventure titles from the 2000’s are concerned one of the more memorable titles that we got to see for the Nintendo 64 was The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask which was released back in Spring 2000. The cool thing about Zelda’s Majora’s Mask was the fact that the gameplay was similar to that of Ocarina Of Time but slightly more advanced. Also, Majora’s Mask has a darker tone in comparison to that of its 1998 predecessor Zelda: Ocarina Of Time which made for a more interesting installment at the time. In Majora’s Mask players were able to collect over twenty different mask’s and had the ability to transform into various different creatures in order to complete certain parts of the game which was interesting especially since that was never common Zelda titles prior to Majora’s Mask. The introduction of a new antagonist was something else that was refreshing especially considering the the fact that Ganon is normally the main villain in Zelda games. In this game Majora who possesses the Skull Kid with the intent of destroying Termina considered to be the central antagonist. The visuals for Majora’s Mask were just as good as Ocarina Of Time and it was a sequel to that game that no one really expected which added to its appeal.

Since its release Zelda: Majora’s Mask managed to reach at least three million copies worldwide on the Nintendo 64. Despite, its level of popularity for the N64 Majora’s Mask did not sell nearly as much as Ocarina Of Time which sold roughly under 8 million units worldwide. However, Zelda: Majora’s Mask was still very popular to a point where its was re-released for the Nintendo 3DS back in February 2015. The Nintendo 3DS port of Majora’s Mask managed to reach at least two million in sales before the end of that year. Majora’s Mask is still one of the best action-adventure games to appear on a Nintendo console within the past 20 years and is a title that retro gamers still consider a classic for the Nintendo 64.
