Should MegaMan 4-6 have been ported for the SNES during the early 90’s?

Back in the late 80’s-early 90’s The MegaMan series was very popular on the Nintendo based consoles. The original MegaMan title was first released back in 1987 for the NES but for whatever reason Capcom’s run and gun platformer series remained on the 8-bit console during the early 90’s aside from the MMX series. While Capcom did release Mega Man 7 for the SNES back in ’95 there are some who question whether or not MegaMan 4-6 could have been successful on the 16-bit game console back in the early 90’s. On one hand MegaMan 4-6 would have looked better in terms of visuals if they were released for the SNES.

However, if MegaMan 4-6 appeared on the SNES opposed to the NES than the MegaMan X 1-3 could have easily been overshadowed those games along with titles such as F-Zero, Contra III: Alien Wars and many other big titles that appeared on the 16-bit console between the ’90-’95 time period. Also, MegaMan 7 which was released for the SNES was not as well received as the MMX trilogy which also appeared on that game system as well. Keeping MegaMan 4-6 was most likely the best choice for Capcom at the time despite the fact that the NES was starting to become obsolete during the early 90’s.
