As many know we got a chance to see many cool games on both Nintendo and Sega consoles back in the 90’s. When it comes down to 3D racing games two both the best racing titles to come from that decade were Virtua Racing along with Mario Kart 64. In terms of which game was more popular back in the day is something that is debatable. On one hand despite being a generic 3D racing title Virtua Racing was a game that was ahead of its time especially since we hardly anything like it betweetthe 1990-1993 time period. In fact, Virtua Racing is considered to be one of the most influential 3D racing titles of all time and is seen as game that has paved the way for likes of Gran Turismo which ended becoming one of the most popular racers of the late 90’s.

Despite, how popular Virtua Racing was back in the early 90’s there was no question that Mario Kart 64 was a better racing title overall follies release in ’96. Ever since, Mario Kart 64 appeared on the Nintendo 64 the game managed to sell over 9.8 million units worldwide. Mario Kart 64 also ended up becoming the second best selling game for the N64 and was almost popular as Gran Turismo was for the PS1 between 1997-1999.
