As many people know we will be seeing the re-release of older Final Fantasy games on the Nintendo Switch in 2019. Titles such Final Fantasy 7, 9, 10, 12 along with Crystal Chronicles were announced by Square Enix for the Nintendo Switch a few days ago. While Final Fantasy 8 was a big title that Square Enix excluded from their announcement there are also titles such as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn which was initially released for the PlayStation 3 along with Microsoft Windows in 2013 that people often wonder about as well. The idea of having one of Square’s MMORPG titles on the Nintendo Switch sound cool in theory especially since that console is currently lacking games within that genre.
While the director of Final Fantasy XIV Naoki Yoshida has expressed interest in bring the game to both the Nintendo Switch along with Xbox One last year there are still doubt me that it will ever happen. Seeing cross-platform gameplay between Xbox One and Nintendo Switch for an MMORPG title such as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn would definitely be an unforgettable gaming experience. Also, having Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on both the Switch and the Xbox One consoles could definitely strengthen the relationship between Microsoft & Nintendo with cross-platform gameplay similar to how games like Fortnite have lately.
