There is no doubt that the Switch is one of the fastest selling game consoles that Nintendo has ever produced. As it currently stands the Nintendo Switch has managed to sell over 17 million units worldwide in less than two years since its initial release back in March 2017. In terms of sales the Nintendo Switch has already surpassed the Wii-U and looks like it will eventually pass the GameCube which has sold over 21 million units worldwide since its release back in 2001.

Despite, the amount of success that the Nintendo Switch has in relation to sales there are people who question whether or not it can surpass the Nintendo Entertainment System. Since its release back in 1983 the NES has managed to sell over 61 million units worldwide and is one of the best selling consoles that Nintendo has ever developed. As time passes with in the next couple years there is almost no doubt that the Switch console will surpass the likes of the SNES and the Nintendo 64 in terms of overall sales seeing how much mainstream attention it continues to get.

One response to “Will the Nintendo Switch surpass the NES in sales?”

  1. Yeah, it will probably surpass Wii U, as it’s both Nintendo’s new home and portable console, something that hasn’t happened before. We just have to wait until the new Pokemon mainline game comes for it to get even more sales
