There has been so much talk about the upcoming release of the Sega Mega Drive Mini later in 2018 since it was recently announced. We are expected to get classic games from the Mega Drive console such as Sonic the Hedgehog and many others on this retro based console. It going to be interesting to see how well the Mega Drive Mini does in terms of sales in comparison to the SNES Classic which was released in the Fall of 2017.

Since its release the SNES Classic managed to reach over 4 million units worldwide in sales within a couple of months following its release. However, the SNES Classic was hyped up since 2016 and many people were expecting the retro based console to be a success. The announcement of the Mega Drive Mini caught many by surprise plus it still has to compete with the SNES Classic which makes it hard to predict how successful it will be following its release.
