When it comes down to bear em up games for the NES both Double Dragon along with Battletoads were two popular titles within that genre and are considered memorable classics to anyone who has owned the 8 bit console during the 80’s and the early 90’s. While both beat em up tittered challenging some might give the slight edge to Battletoads in terms of overall difficulty. In fact some might argue that Battletoads was one of the most difficult beat em up games of all time. The Co-op in Battletoads really required both players to work together to avoid accidentally destroying each other.

In some ways the difficulty overshadowed the fun factor that Battletoads had to offer. However, Battletoads is still considered to be one of the greatest beat em up games of all time. Double Dragon on the other hand was without a doubt a success in arcade centers and was without a doubt more superior than the NES and Mega Drive versions of the game. In terms of popularity and success many would probably put Battletoads and Double Dragon on the same level.
