When it comes to action adventure titles for the Game Boy Advance Metroid Fusion was considered to be a very popular title from the early 00’s. In fact, Metroid Fusion looked like it could have made for a decent 2D sequel for Super Metroid which was released for the SNES back in November 2002. However, some could make the argument that Metroid Fusion would not have been as popular on the SNES during the mid 90’s as it was in the early 00’s.

When Metroid Fusion was first released in 2002 it appeared around the same time that Metroid Prime appeared on the Nintendo GameCube in North America. The release of Metroid Prime back in the early 00’s drew some mainstream attention during the time and was one of those things that revived the interest of retro gamers who fans of Super Metroid for the SNES back in 1993. Besides towards the mid 90’s many people started to become more interested in 3D gaming with the emergence of consoles such as the PS1 and the Sega Saturn. If anything the timing for Metroid Fusion in terms of release could not have been any better.
