When it comes down to fighting games from the 90’s there were constant titles such Super Street Fighter II: Turbo, Tekken 2 & 3, Mortal Kombat II and many others that were amazing. Most of the fighting titles from the 90’s were legendary especially the 2D games but in terms of which one was the most difficult is debatable among retro gamers.

In arcade centers games such as Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 seemed very challenging to many people. CPU opponents were very tough along with trying to execute signature moves and fatalities with various characters in the game. Also, the battles that players have to go through after choosing their destiny are insanely difficult especially the endurance fights where they must defeat multiple people in two rounds before moving to Motaro and Shao Kahn. While many might have different opinions on which fight game was the toughest to beat in the 90’s Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 would take the cake for most people.

One response to “What was the hardest 2D fighting game of the 90’s?”

  1. For me it is Mortal Kombat 3. Motaro is such an unfair enemy, I can very rarely beat Goro but I can at least occasionally cheese him. Motaro is just a cunt.

I can beat Tekken with my eyes closed, never thought it was hard (until you crank the difficulty) I struggle on very easy in Street Fighter
