When it comes down to action adventure games Batman: Arkham Asylum was definitely one of the coolest multiple console titles to have been released during the 00’s. As many people know Batman: Arkham Asylum was developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Eidos Interactive & Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment back in 2009. When this game was first released there were various aspects about it from the storytelling to the visual quality was amazing. The story for this game focused on how Batman must stop the Joker from setting off bombs in Gotham City after he captures him and brings him the Arkham. After taking the Joker to Arkham players learn that it was a trap that also involved Harley Quinn who breached Arkham’s security system and a crooked guard who worked there. After learning about the disappearance of Commissioner Gordon along with the fact most of the Joker’s henchmen are stationed in Arkham Batman must stop the Joker by himself without no outside interference.

As player progress throughout the game they encounter some of the most popular villains in the DC universe including Bane, Scarecrow, Killer Crock, Poison and the Joker himself. In terms of boss battles some people would argue that most of them were not too difficult. However, when it comes down to the boss fight with Poison Ivy many people argue that she is more difficult than the Joker. Not only does Ivy have two life bars but her henchmen are very annoying when you try to defeat her as Batman. One of the many things that was impressive about this game was the psychology that the Joker used to lure Batman into Arkham. Those who watched the movie Batman: Dark Knight following its release in 08′ would probably make some minor comparisons between it and this game. Even though, the plot was completely different the Joker had still proved to be a formidable adversary for Batman.

Also, the tactics the Joker used in this game felt somewhat similar to the ones that used in Dark Knight against Batman which made Arkham Asylum seem more interesting. Shortly, after this game was released it sold over two million copies worldwide within a month. Also, Batman: Arkham Asylum has sold over four million units worldwide since 2009. Whether one decides to play this game on the PS3, Xbox 360 or any other console the quality of the game feels the same. Batman: Arkham Asylum is generally regarded as one of the best action adventure games of the 00’s. Its sometimes debatable on whether or not it was better than its sequel Batman: Arkham City which was released in 2012.
