Will there ever be a direct sequel for Celeste?

When it comes down to 2D platform indie games of 2018 one of the most popular games of that year was Celeste. Since its release Celeste has been praised by numerous critics for its storyline along with its gameplay and graphics that resembles modern 8 bit gaming. Since its release back in January of last year Celeste has managed to sell at least 50,000 units worldwide which is pretty good for an indie game. Despite, how much Celeste shined as a 2D platformer on consoles such as the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch this past year there is no question that it was overshadowed by games such as Monster Hunter: World, God of War, Super Mario Odessey, Zelda: Breath of the Wild and many more.

Just because Celeste was overshadowed for the most the most part in 2018 does not mean that the game does not deserve a sequel. In fact, Celeste has only been out for only one year and while it does indeed draw a sequel it will probably be a couple of years before the developer Matt Makes Games actually makes one. It will be interesting to see whether or not Matt Makes Games decides to make a sequel for Celeste in future but as it currently stands it seems like the developer has no plans on making it a reality.

Is GTA: 5 the best action-adventure game of the 10’s decade?

When it comes down to big games that have attracted a ton of mainstream attention and has earned million late following its release within the 10’s decade Grand Theft Auto V is one of the top titles that instantly comes to mind. Since its initial release back in September 2013 Grand Theft Auto V RockStar has managed to earn over $6 billion in revenue from the game and has managed to reach over 90 million copies in worldwide sales. The amount of success that GTA: 5 has achieved since its release is unbelievable but at the same time its not too surprising seeing how popular the seems has been since the early 00’s. Following the release of Grand Theft Auto III In ’01 it managed to reach at least 14 million units worldwide in sales while GTA: Vice City reach over 17 million after its arrival on the PS2 In ’02.

After GTA: San Andreas reached at least 27 million units worldwide in relation to sales on multiple game systems such as the PS3 and Xbox 360 it seemed like RockStar has reached its peak in popularity until Grand Theft Auto V was released for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One in 2013. Along with having three characters to play as in the story mode, impressive visuals, advanced combat system and excellent storytelling the online multiplayer mode added to its overall replay value. Red Dead Redemption vs Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 which game is more popular right now?

When it comes down to gaming in 2018 two of the most popular titles that we have seen this year are Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 along with Red Dead Redemption 2. Since both of their respective releases Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 have attracted a ton of mainstream attention especially since they include online multiplayer game modes that contributes to the replay value of each game. Ever since October 26th of this year Red Dead Redemption 2 had managed to sell over 15 million copies worldwide. In their respective genre both titles are currently top titles of 2018. If you are a huge fan of the action-adventure genre of gaming you would be more inclined to agree that Red Dead Redemption 2 is more popular than Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. But if you are a fan of first person shooter games and have played Call of Duty since the Modern Warfare days of the late 00’s-early 10’s than COD: Black Ops 4 would most likely be considered a more superior game than Redemption 2. Either way both games seem about equal in relation to popularity in 2018.

Should Mortal Kombat 9 be ported for the PlayStation 4 ?

When it comes down to popular fighting titles of the early 10’s along with Super Street Fighter IV one of the many titles that instantly comes to mind is Mortal Kombat 9 which was released for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 back in 2011. Since its release Mortal Kombat 9 was praised for its storyline covering the events of MK I-III along with its cinematic cutscenes and in depth roster containing popular characters from the series such as Liu Kang, Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Johnny Cage, Sonya Kitana, Milenna and more. While Mortal Kombat X was also a great game following its release in 2015 MK 9 was arguably more popular following its release back in 2011. If we do not hear or received a reveal trailer for Mortal Kombat XI anytime in 2019 than re-releasing MK 9 would be the next best thing that NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros Interactive can possibly do at this point.

Is Sony completely finished with backwards compatibility on game systems?

As many people know the PlayStation 5 is expected to appear sometime between 2019-2020 and as it currently stands it does not look like Sony plans on adding backwards compatibility to this upcoming game system. After all, the PlayStation 4 had absolutely no backwards compatibility with PS3 games and it managed to be probably the best selling game system of the 10’s decade. While PS2 was Sony’s best selling game system it was backwards compatible with PS1 titles and managed to become the highest selling console of all-time. Even though, models of the PS3 were backwards compatible with certain PS2 titles it still fell short of at least 20 million units worldwide in sales to that of the PlayStation 2 which reached around 154 million.

Since its release back in late 2013 the PlayStation 4 managed to reach over 86 million units worldwide in sales. It seems like the PS4 has managed to become highly successful without backwards compatibility this decade and adding that feature to the PlayStation 5 could possibly be detrimental to its overall success. For those who enjoy backwards compatibility in relation to older generation titles consoles such as the Xbox One would be most suitable for you especially since there is no indication whatsoever that Sony will be adding backwards compatibility to their upcoming game console.
