
Its hard to believe that its been a decade since Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was released for PS4 and Xbox One in 2016. Xenoverse 2 was the sequel to the original game which came out back in 2015 which arguably helped but DBZ back in the spotlight within the gaming world. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was developed by Dimps and published by Bandi Namco Entertainment and was an action role-playing spin-off game. Xenoverse 2 came out about year after the Dragon Ball Super series began in Japan which something that help put more eyes on the DBZ franchise in general. Similar to the original Xenoverse game from ’15 the story for the Xenoverse 2 game revolved around time travel and rewriting history with several interesting twists. Xenoverse 2 gave players the ability to create their own custom warrior and serve as a time patrol to stop the plans of the main antagonists Towa and Mira from altering DBZ history.

The customization suite when creating a character in Xenoverse 2 was one of the best features the game had to offer. Xenoverse 2 gave players the ability to choose what race their character was between Human, Namekian, Majin, Saiyan and Frieza. Players could also earn customize their transformation abilities from Kaioken to Super Saiyan God all the way down to Ultra Instinct. The graphics for Xenoverse 2 looked amazing and featured fast-paced open range gameplay that really captured the vibe of the DBZ anime. The cel-shaded graphics coupled with the compelling dialogue featuring around 120 characters made Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 addictive. The story mode for Xenoverse 2 had 13 main story sagas and allowed players to experience a retelling of some of the most iconic saga’s in DBZ history. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was quite possibly one of the best DBZ video games to come out of the 10’s decade along with Dragon Ball FighterZ from 2018.

Xenoverse 2 like its predecessor felt special because it gave us something different opposed to the simple retelling of the same sagas. Xenoverse 2 also included stories involving Battle of the Gods, Resurrection F and Universe 6 which made the game more interesting. Xenoverse 2 got to see the return of many familiar iconic faces like Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, Frieza, Cell and Majin Buu with the inclusion of news names like Beerus, Whis, Hit and Champa. Since its release in 2016 Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 managed to managed to reach more than ten million units in sales with at least 20 different DLC’s coming out within the past decade. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is quite possibly the greatest DBZ video game of all-time depending on who you ask and is still somewhat of a mainstream attraction today. Xenoverse 2 set the bar high and many people have doubts on whether or not the upcoming Xenoverse 3 game will surpass it or not. Xenoverse 3 is expected to be released in 2027 and the gaming community hoping for better features involving gameplay along with in-depth customization and compelling storylines. Xenoverse 3 is expected to appear on multiple gaming platforms like PS5, Xbox Series X and PC and could possibly. appear on the Switch 2 in the future depending how popular it becomes.
