Its been over a month since WWE 2K26 was released for current generation game systems like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch 2. WWE 2K26 was released back in March 2026 and since then it has received a polarizing reception from pro wrestling fans and critics alike. WWE 2K26 was praised for its Showcase & MyRise modes along with its in-depth roster and its variety in relation to match types. While the gameplay has also been praised for having improved AI along with smoother and more fluid animations WWE 2K26 did have its share of drawbacks. There were four different editions of WWE 2K26 and each of them were expensive with the Monday Night War version being priced around $150. The base version of WWE 2K26 cost around $70 which is reasonable but heavy monetization is something that many people complained about because it reeked of corporate greed. There were people complaining about having to pay for a video game they felt was left incomplete on purpose.

Since its release players have been complaining about have to pay for popular wrestlers and special animations that should have been included in the starter version in WWE 2K26. The outrage from a majority of pro wrestling fans has lead a them to trash WWE 2K26 online. In the past couple of weeks WWE 2K26 have been subjected to review bombing and makes you wonder whether or not it had a negative effect on sales. While there is no solid evidence that WWE 2K26 has underperformed in sales but the layoffs hitting its developer Visual Concepts makes you wonder. Its being reported to that the staff cuts top Visual Concepts have more to do with a restructuring plan involving 2K Games and Take-Two Interactive. Its also being said that WWE 2K team has been hit harder than the NBA 2K group within Visual Concepts. Some are speculating that this might be a more ominous sign for WWE 2K franchise while others believe that the shake-up might possibly be a positive step in the right direction.
