The Super Mario Galaxy Movie which was released in movie theaters in early April 2026 is one that has gained a ton of mainstream attention within the gaming industry. The Super Mario Galaxy movie is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Super Mario Bros film from 2023 which managed to exceed more than $1 billion in box office revenue. While the Super Mario Bros movie from 2023 was most praised by critics and fans alike the Mario Galaxy film received more of a polarizing reception. There were many people who complained about the storytelling aspect of the film and how the main protagonist Mario along with his brother Luigi seemingly had secondary roles behind the likes of Rosalina and Princess Peach. Also, the Super Mario Galaxy Movie had seemingly turned Bowser the main antagonist of the Mario series into a joke character while making his son Bowser Jr. a bigger threat and a more competent villain. There are some critics who would argue that the Super Mario Galaxy was more woke than its predecessor but despite its faults it felt almost as entertaining.
