Its hard to believe its been 10 years since Bloodborne was released on the PlayStation 4. Bloodborne was developed by FromSoftware and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Bloodborne was considered to be one of the best action role-playing video games of the mid 2010’s along with the likes of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which also came out in 2015. Bloodborne is a video game that many people praised for a variety of reasons including its gameplay, gothic atmosphere, great storytelling along with its emphasis on horror on general. Bloodborne was a soulslike RPG that felt somewhat similar to that of Dying Light due to its post-apocalyptic environment. Also, similar to Dying Light the Bloodborne game focused a fictional city being hit with a plague that turned people into beasts. The environment Dying Light was more modern and filled with zombies while Bloodborne had Victorian Era influences from the 19th century. Dying Light placed more emphasis on parkour gameplay while Bloodborne felt more like a Dark Souls game. Bloodborne was a game that had a steep learning curve especially for those who were new to anything related to the Dark Souls series. Players only got better through trial and error and the boss fights were way more challenging than anything you would see in your average RPG.

There are many people who would put Bloodborne in the same category as Elden Ring from 2022 in terms of overall difficulty. Bloodborne felt like one of those games where dying repeatedly as the main protagonist was almost necessary for players to get better. Even though, the Lovecraftian horror aesthetic in Bloodborne was a sight to behold the linear aspect of the game was a bit of turn off to some people. There some who believe that Bloodborne could have been better if FromSoftware decided provide players with open-world gameplay similar to the Witcher 3 or even Elden Ring. While the fictional city of Yharnam was interconnected the progression to different locations was more story driven opposed to being able to explore anywhere at anytime. Bloodborne had roughly around 40 bosses along with three different endings which added to its overall replay value. Bloodborne was an RPG game that managed to be very dark and disturbing despite not being a survival-horror game. Bloodborne also managed to achieve mainstream success following its release during the mid 2010’s reaching over 7.4 million copies worldwide. Its shocking that Bloodborne never got remastered for the PlayStation 5 despite its cult following. Bloodborne is a game that people still enjoy a decade later and its one of the few RPG’s from the 2010’s that has stood the test of time in general.
