Retro Gaming 00s- Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe: (2008)

It has been at least fourteen years since Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe was released was released by Midway Games. Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe was released back in ‘08 for multiple game systems including PS3 and Xbox 360. This game also managed to be one of the most unlikely video game crossovers ever made. The fact that Midway Games were able to create a story involving two completely different universes was pretty cool. This title featured popular characters from each franchise including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Joker, Scorpion and many more. The plot revolved around the Justice League world and the Netherrealm colliding along with Darkseid and Shao Khan merging with one another. Both Shao Khan and Darkseid ended up forming an entity known as Dark Khan who was the main antagonist of Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. Almost everything about Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe was great from the aesthetics and voice-over acting; all the way down to the gameplay.

It was also pretty cool to see DC characters perform fatalities because it was something new. Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe felt like the original Injustice game from ‘13 before it even existed. As a fighting title Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe was one of the hottest fighting games of ‘08 along with Street Figher IV & Soul Calibur IV. Even though, the overall roster Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe could have been bigger the character selection we got was acceptable. Its a shame that Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe never received an official sequel; especially considering the fact that it reached over 1.9 million units in worldwide sales. But everyone knows that the real reason why Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe never received a sequel was because Midway Games went bankrupt back in 2010. Also, its unlikely that Netherrealm Studios or Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment has any interest in making a sequel to Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe.
