As far as top action-adventure games from the 00’s decade are concerned there are many exciting titles that instantly comes to mind. For the Nintendo GameCube which was released back in ’01 two of the biggest action-adventure titles for that console included Metroid Prime and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Metroid Prime was a game that exceeded the expectations of many people especially considering the fact that people had waited since ’93 for the game before it was released in November 2002. The original Metroid Prime game was praised by fans and critics alike for its visuals, sound effects along with Nintendo’s ability to successfully develop a 3D installment to the series which became popular in 2D. Since its release Metroid Prime was named “Game Of the Year” by multiple gaming publications such as GameSpy, GameSpot, Edge and EGM and had rivaled the likes of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City as far as popularity is concerned.

As popular as the Metroid series was back in the 00’s with the trilogy of games that we saw between ’02-’07 some would argue in favor of Zelda: Twilight Princess in being a better action-adventure game. Twilight Princess was a game that many people praised for various reasons such as its graphics and its controls especially the return of Z-targeting on the Wii (L-targeting on GameCube). Also, the artificial intelligence was more challenging in Twilight Princess which added to the game’s overall replay value. As far as overall sales are concerned Zelda: Twilight Princess sold close to 9 million altogether for GameCube and Wii combined and eventually received an HD remake on the Wii-U in early 2016. As far as which title was more superior between Metroid Prime and Zelda: Twilight Princess is debatable and really depends on what series you are more a fan of.
