Should Sonic Jam have been saved for Sega Dreamcast?

For those who do not know Sonic Jam was a CD that was released for the Sega Saturn that included the Sonic trilogy which was released for the Sega Genesis between 1991-1994. While Sonic Jam received a good reception from critics following its release back in ’97 there are some who believe that the it should have been saved for the Sega Dreamcast. While Sonic Adventure was a successful title for the Dreamcast console many people who were fans of the Sonic series generally preferred the 2D side scrolling titles for the Sega Genesis over 3D games in general.

If anything Sonic Jam could of ended up being one of the best selling games for the Sega Dreamcast. Despite, the decline in popularity in relation to 2D gaming during the mid to late 90’s not everyone had a chance to play Sonic the Hedgehog 1-3 for the Sega Genesis especially if they were playing Mario & Zelda games for the SNES. Looking back now Sega really missed out by not saving Sonic Jam for Dreamcast. But then again Sonic 3D Blast was not well received by critics for the Sega Saturn back in late ’96-early ’97 so having Sonic Jam in that console made sense at the time.
