The history between Nintendo and Sega during the 90’s console war is well documented. While the Super Nintendo Entertainment System when on to sell more units worldwide than the Sega Genesis the N64 which was released back in 1996 was also a success around the world as well. Since its release the Nintendo 64 has managed to sell over 33 million units worldwide while the Sega Dreamcast had only managed to reach over 9 million since its release back in 1998. But than again the N64 had some very successful titles such as Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Perfect Dark, GoldenEye 007, Banjo Kazooie and others that sold millions.

While the Sega Dreamcast had its share of games such as Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Skies of Arcadia, Power Stone, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi that were very popular they were not quite as big as some of the N64 titles. Despite having better quality and gameplay the 128-bit Sega Dreamcast console ended up dealing with stiff competition from both the Nintendo 64 and the PS1. Nintendo had the lead in the console wars over Sega prior to Sony joining the mix and the Dreamcast game system console have sold more than it did if the PS1 did not exist during the 90’s.
