There is no question that Disgaea: Hour of Darkness was one of the most underrated tactical RPG titles of the 00’s. Since its initial release for the PlayStation 2 back in 2003 Disgaea: Hour of Darkness has been ported to other game consoles such as the PlayStation Portable and the Nintendo Ds during the later part of the 00’s. Also, this game will be re-released as Disgaea 1: Complete for the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4 in October 2018. In terms on whether or not Disgaea: Hour of Darkness could have worked on GameCube back in the 00’s is debatable.

While it would have been cool to see a GameCube port of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness the tactical RPG genre of gaming generally seemed to stand out more on PlayStation consoles during the late 90’s and the early 00’s. Titles such as Tactics Orge and Final Fantasy Tactics really shined on the PS1 during the mid to late 90’s. Tactical RPG titles had also seemed to be more popular on handheld consoles such as Final Fantasy Advance for the Game Boy Advance or Final Fantasy A2 Tactics for the Nintendo DS. In theory, having Disgaea: Hour of Darkness on GameCube would have been awesome but it may have still paled in comparison to the PS2 port of the game.
