It was recently announced that the SNES Classic reached a new record in terms of sales. Since its release back in September 2017 the SNES Classic has now sold over 5 million worldwide which is very impressive for a 16 bit console in this day and age. The SNES Classic was probably one of the most popular game consoles from 2017 next to the Nintendo Switch.

The amount of mainstream attention the SNES Classic gained last year prior to its release was unbelievable since many people were excited about the games the retro based console had featured. There were games such as Zelda: Link to the Past, F-Zero, Super Mario World, Starfox 2 and many others that made millions of people want to pre-order the SNES Classic prior to its release. It will interesting to see how much the SNES Classic sells worldwide before the end of 2018.
