There was no doubt that the late 90’s was probably the best time to be a fan of pro wrestling considering how popular it was during the Monday Night Wars Between WCW and the WWE. Not only did wrestling fans receive great television on Monday nights they also got to play some cool games if they owned a N64. WCW/NWO World Tour is considered to be legendary due to its in game mechanics in relation to the grappling system.

The gameplay would also be replicated in WCW/NWO Revenge which was a direct sequel the World Tour game and as well as WrestleMania 2000. There various things interesting about WCW/NWO World Tour that added to its appeal including the “League Challenge” Mode which allowed players to compete against several wrestlers from either WCW, NWO, DOA or IOA in order to win the promotion’s championship while unlocking new characters in the process.

While WCW/NWO World Tour was considered to be one of the most successful wrestling titles to be published by THQ for the N64 some would argue that WrestleMania 2000 was a better game overall. In WrestleMania 2000 players were given a larger roster of characters to choose from along with the option to create their own wrestler. Also, there were multiple game modes including Exhibition, King of the Ring, Royal Rumble and Road to WrestleMania which added to the overall replay value of the this title.

In terms of which game was better in terms of gameplay and overall and game modes many people are inclined to put WrestleMania 2000 over WCW/NWO World Tour. But since WCW/NWO World Tour managed to sell at least 1.3 million units worldwide it would be safe to say that it had more success than WrestleMania 2000 did on the N64.
