When it comes down to Nintendo classics the Ice Climbers title for the NES was a game that many retro gamers may remember. Even though, Ice Climbers was not the most popular game for the NES it was definitely a title that stood out back in the 80’s for the NES due to its top down platform gameplay. Despite, the fact that the original Ice Climbers game was ported for various game consoles including the Game Boy Advance and the Wii Virtual Console some question whether or not Ice Climbers could have worked in 3D on the N64 back in the 90’s.

In theory an Ice Climbers game could have worked for the N64 if the same type of gameplay from the NES were to be utilized. However, around the mid 90’s 2D top down platform games were no longer popular and people began to favor 3D platforms such as Super Mario 64, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. Ice Climbers for the N64 would have been interesting but it might not have been as popular as the original NES game.
