When it comes down to video game consoles of the 90’s the Neo Geo AES along with the Sega Saturn might be two of the most underrated consoles of the decade. In terms of which game console was more successful is highly debatable among many retro gamers who grew up during the 90’s. Both the Neo Geo AES and the Sega Saturn where not as popular in countries such as North America in the early 90’s. However, in relation to sales many can argue that the Sega Saturn did better than the Neo Geo did overall.

It has been reported that ever since the Sega Saturn was released back in late 1994 the console had managed to sell over 9 million units worldwide. When the Sega Saturn was first released it was priced around $399 which was expensive but not to the same extent as the Neo Geo following its release back in 1990. When the Neo Geo was first released it averaged around $649.99 in pricing which was outrageously expensive. In fact the PS4 or the Xbox One was never as expensive as the Neo Geo was when both consoles were first released in late 2013. The sales for the Neo Geo was not good in the early 90’s and could have been better if the SNK Corporation was ore cautious about the pricing of the console. In fact, if the Neo Geo was released at the right price it could have affected the whole landscape of the console wars back in the 90’s which was mainly between Nintendo, Sega and Sony during the time.
