When it comes down to popular beat em up games of the early 90’s the Streets of Rage and the Final Fight series we’re both popular during the 16 bit era of gaming. Streets Of Rage II which released back in 1992 was arguably the most popular game in the 16 bit trilogy on the Sega Genesis. Final Fight II was released the following year for the SNES back in 1993 but as fun as it was characters such as Guy and Cody were excluded from the game.

While players were still able to select Mike Haggar Final Fight II two new characters named Carlos and Maki were added to game. Both Carlos and Maki were not quite as popular as Guy and Cody was in the first game. Even though, Final Fight II was a decent game it was not quite as popular as Street of Rage II was back in the early 90’s. Streets of Rage II saw Yuzo Koshiro work on the soundtrack while Sega decided to keep Axel & Blaze main characters in the game. In this case there no question that Streets of Rage II had the slight edge over Final Fight II in the early 90’s.
