It has been recently reported that Nintendo plans on continuing the sale of 3DS handheld consoles despite the popularity and success of the Nintendo Switch. When you think about it the Nintendo Switch does make the 3DS obsolete in some ways. Since the Nintendo Switch is a hybrid console that also work as a handheld it seems like there is no point on buying the Nintendo 3DS anymore.

But at the same time having the Nintendo 3DS in retail stores gives people more options in terms of preference in what they would like to play. There are big games that are exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS such as Metroid: Samus Returns that many people would love to purchase. As of right now discontinuing the Nintendo 3DS wouldn’t be a good idea on the long run since there aren’t too many games on the Nintendo Switch as of right now.

One response to “Should Nintendo continue the producing 3DS consoles?”

  1. Hm, I never really thought about this, especially since I obtained a 3DS after I bought my Switch. As of now I don’t think the Switch has all of the games the 3DS does, but eventually, it will make the older handheld system obsolete.
