Back in the 9″‘s Altered Beast was probably one of the most memorable beat em up titles of the 16 bit era for the Sega Genesis.  The idea of being able to turn into a beast while fighting undead creatures was something that deviated from the norm in terms of traditional beat em up games forboth the  Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo back in the early 90’s.

In games like Street of Rage or Final Fight the main characters were seen as traditional knight and shining armor types who fought for causes such as justice.  In Altered Beast the main character is ordered by Zeus to save us daughter Athena from the Demon God known as Neff which makes an interesting back story for this game.  While playing Altered Beast was fun for the Sega Genesis the game was especially fun to play in arcade centers worldwide back in the early 90’s.
