When we think about racing games from the 90’s and the 00’s both decades were great time periods to be a fan of the genre. The 90’s was a good time to be a fan of the racing genre if you were into arcade games like Sega Outrun which is one of the most popular titles of the decade. Along with Sega outrun we saw other cool racing games like Need for Speed the Top Gear series, Sega GT and Metropolis Street racer. While the 90’s had included many exciting racing titles both in arcades and in home consoles the 00’s predominately had more games that were in-depth. When it comes down to racing titles of the 00’s we had so many games were the mechanics were amazing and the single player modes were nothing short of fantastic.

During the 00’s we saw the release of games such as Midnight Club II, Race Driver Grid, Forza Motorsport, Project Gotham Racing, Midnight Club: Los Angeles along with the continuation of the Gran Tursimo series. The racing titles of the 00’s were released mainly on consoles such as PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox and the Xbox 360. Following the release of various racing titles of the 00’s many people were impressed by the visual quality of each game. When it comes down to developing in-depth racing titles the genre has come very far.

In fact one of few games that comes to mind when it comes down to in depth racing titles from the 90’s is Super Monaco GP for the Sega Genesis. When it comes down to the career mode of Super Monaco GP the game felt like it was ahead of its time. However, we did not get too many games like Super Monaco GP back in the 90’s since arcade style racing titles were more popular back then. With games such as Sega Outrun and Daytona USA players were presented with a limited amount of stages and options in terms of what type of car they prefer to drive. On the plus side we had games like Gran Turismo 1 & 2 that gave players many options on what type of cars they wanted to drive. When it comes down to which decade was better for the racing genre its tough to decide because the Gran Turismo series began in the 90’s along with Sega Outrun, Daytona USA and the Sega Outrun series. In the 00’s we got games like Midnight Club, Grid and Forza Motorsport that started in that decade and has also played significant role in helping the genre evolve together as a whole.
