Its been 30 years since the original Tekken game was released and three decades letter we are on the eight main installment of the series. The original Tekken game is considered to be legendary because it marked the birth of a franchise which is currently one of the most popular video game series within the fighting genre. The original Tekken game came out in ’94 and its one that does not get talked about as much because it did not achieve the same level of popularity of its successors Tekken 2 & 3. The original Tekken game looked very basic compared to its sequels during the 90’s and highly resembled that of the original Virtua Fighter that came out in ’93. The original Tekken was where the whole Mishima saga started leading to one of the biggest feuds in video game history involving Heihachi Mishima and Kazuya Mishima. The original Tekken game had around seventeen playable characters and saw the introduction of other characters such as: Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, Michelle Chang, Lee Chaolan, Yoshimitsu, Nina Williams and Anna Williams.
The original Tekken game did not have a much depth as its sequels in terms of game mode in comparison to other installments within the series. However, the original Tekken title did introduce the gaming community to some of main cast of characters who would play vital roles in the overarching storyline involving the King of the Iron Fist Tournament. The graphics for the original Tekken look completely outdated by today’s standards but its a pretty fun game for those who are hardcore fans of the fighting genre. The original Tekken game was not heavily story driven like later installments within the series from the 2000’s onwards. The original Tekken title was a good arcade game by mid 90’s standards but its probably the least popular installment within its series.
