Mario Sports Mix is an overlooked Mario title from the early 10’s that appeared on the Wii console more than thirteen years ago. Mario Sports Mix was a pretty unique title back in the day because it ended up being one of the few sports games Square Enix made for Nintendo. Mario Sports Mix feel somewhat similar to the two Mario Strikers games that came out between ’05-’07 which was solely based around soccers but with other sports activities. Mario Sports Mix had activities involving basketball, ice hockey, volleyball along with dodgeball and even allowed players to select a few characters from the Dragon Quest series. Players also had the option to play as one of the Mii characters also which was another feature that was not present the older Mario sports titles. Mario Sports Mix had supported both co-op and local multiplayer gameplay and even had a story which showed that Nintendo placed some effort in trying to make the game entertaining. Also, having Behemoth from Final Fantasy as the final boss in the game felt strange yet interesting. Aside from special appearances from Final Fantasy characters there was nothing too special about this game and was overshadowed by various other Wii titles including Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and Mario Kart Wii. The Mario Sports Mix game still managed to break roughly around two million copies in sales on the Wii console but ended up being forgotten about throughout the 2010’s decade.
