Mortal Kombat: Gold is arguably one of the most underrated entries within the MK series. Mortal Kombat: Gold was released for the Dreamcast console in 1999 and was an expansion of the original MK4 game from ’97. Mortal Kombat: Gold was developed by Eurocom and published by Midway and was released as a Dreamcast exclusive. The cool thing about Mortal Kombat: Gold was that it featured additional stages and characters. In Mortal Kombat: Gold characters like Kitana, Kung Lao, Cyrax, Sektor and Baraka were included along with 3D remakes of MK3 stages such as the Church and the Soul Chamber. While the Dreamcast version was not quite as good as the original arcade version the gameplay was still gory and fun and felt a bit more challenging. Some of the endings for Mortal Kombat: Gold were comedy gold and the voice over acting felt hysterical at times. Despite, how fun Mortal Kombat: Gold was the game was not quite as popular as some of its predecessors including Mortal Kombat 2 and MK3. There are many who probably felt that Mortal Kombat: Gold should of had a larger roster and more game modes but its replay value was still pretty high regardless. Mortal Kombat: Gold was definitely one of those games that deserved a film adaptation but seeing how Mortal Kombat: Annihilation from ’97 got mostly bad reviews it was very unlikely to happen.
