When it comes down underrated 3D platform titles from early 00’s one of the few titles that many people remember was Sega’s Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg game from 2003. Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg was developed by the Sonic Team and was a game that revolved around hatching eggs in order to defeat the crows within the game. The concept of Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg was so simple yet the game itself many people who played the game thought it was very fun. Even though, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg received generally favorable reviews by various gaming publications; it still did poorly in relation to overall sales. But to be fair the GameCube console also did poorly in sales which most likely played a role in casuals gamers from the 00’s missing out on Billy Hatcher altogether. If Billy Hatcher was released on the PlayStation 2 back in the mid 00’s along with GameCube the it could have possibly sold more than it did. But on the other hand Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg could have also have been overshadowed on the PS2 especially considering the fact that adult-themed games like the Grand Theft Auto series was very popular Sony’s 128-bit console during the first half of the 2000’s. Despite, doing poorly in sales it has been recently revealed that the director for Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg Shun Nakamura expressed interest in reviving Billy Hatcher in future. At this point its been almost 20 years since Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg was released and a sequel two decades later would definitely turn heads within the gaming world. But before a potential sequel for Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg is made Sega should probably consider remastering this platform classic for the Nintendo Switch or their next generation console later down the line.
