Ever since its release for the Nintendo Switch back in 2017 Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has managed to achieve massive commercial success unlike any other installment within its own series. While Mario Kart 8: Deluxe initially meant to be a modified and improved version of the original Mario Kart 8 game from ’14 it ended up becoming one of Nintendo’s most successful video games ever. Since its release back in Spring 2017 Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has managed to reach over 46 million copies in worldwide sales on the Switch console. In fact, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe is considered to be the best selling game for the Nintendo Switch surpassing the likes of Pokemon Sword & Shield, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has roughly around 48 different courses along with a star-studded roster of iconic Nintendo characters including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Toad, Wario, Link, Yoshi and more. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has at least 36 different characters to choose from and the local and online multiplayer game modes were also impressive as well. In terms of popularity its hard to imagine that Nintendo will ever make another Mario Kart game that will surpass MK8: Deluxe. While the world is still waiting for Nintendo to reveal Mario Kart 9 in future its hard to imagine what Nintendo could possibly contribute to the series that will make the next game more appealing than Mario Kart 8: Deluxe. The fact that Mario Kart 8: Deluxe managed to surpass Mario Kart Wii from 2008 which reached over 37 million copies in sales speaks volumes on how much of an attraction the series is today.
